Oral Pathology Service
UCSF Dermatopathology and Oral Pathology welcomes the opportunity to serve you and your patients with high quality, timely and state of the art diagnostic services for oral and maxillofacial pathology specimens. Diagnostic services include the use of all available UCSF resources including immunohistochemistry, direct immunofluorescence, and Department of Pathology specialist consultations.

Immunofluorescence Testing
We perform direct immunofluorescence studies on specimens where adjuvant testing is needed to establish the diagnosis of a mucocutaneous disorder such as pemphigus, pemphigoid or lichen planus. Testing requires transport to us in a non-formalin preservative called Michel’s medium provided by our lab.
